Meet Kymera, a girl whose mother has been killed and whose father brought her back to life. Except she now has things she didn't have before. Like a tail with a poisonous barb, and wings, and eyes that turn from cat's eyes to normal blue ones. But Kymera is not evil. Her father teaches her in the ways of the world, cares for her, and teaches her how to use use her tail and wings. Then her father tells her that she must venture into the city of Byre, and kidnap the girls that are falling sick to illness, so that he can heal them.

My favorite characters are Ren, and Kymera. Ren is a boy that Kymera meets when she is in the city. He always gives her a perfect rose whenever they meet. He always smells of cinnamon and does not know of Kymera's other things, her tail , wing and cats eyes. And I also like Kymera's dog, which is half sparrow and half regular dog. She is very perky and flies everywhere around the house.

Will she get her beloved pet back?
I would rate this book 4 ½ stars out of 5 stars because I love reading about WWII if it is historical fiction or non fiction. The book didn’t end the way I expected it too but it was still a great ending.

Book Review: Fever 1793

Fever 1793
By Laurie Halse Anderson
Review by Miguel

Anderson also wrote chains, but Fever is the only book by her that I’ve read.  I would rate it 4.3 out of 5 stars.  The main characters are Matilda (Mattie), Eliza, and grandpa.
When the yellow fever breaks out in Philadelphia, many people suffer, not just those who die, but their families.  Mattie and her mom are about to have a great business at the coffee shop, when mom gets the yellow fever.  Mattie has left the coffee shop with grandpa, and things start to get tough.  Will she survive?

Have you read any of Laurie Anderson’s books?

Book Review: Small Steps

Small Steps: the year I got polio
By: Ariana
You walk into your local library and so many books is overwhelming you. On top of that, your teacher is making you read a nonfiction book. ugh. I don’t like nonfiction books either. With one exception. Really awesome narrative autobiographies.  So when you walk into the library, do not be afraid and go find the book Small Steps. Don’t get confused. Not Small Steps by Louis Sacher, (Although if looking for another good read that is a good one!) Small Steps by Peg Kehret.
In this book, Peg Kehret tells some frightening three years of life. Peg got polio. She is a survivor, but in this book Peg learns about friendship while she suffers through painful treatment and medicine. This book, is told like a story. This is so amazing because you feel like you are reading a realistic fiction book.

You probably haven't heard of the amazing book called The Name of this Book is Secret. It's ok. As long as you now know something about this fab book. This is a hilarious novel written by the infamous pseudonymous bosch. Yes there are no caps, even if it is a proper noun. This book is amazing and will make you want to read more.  I love the plot and the characters.
In this book Cass becomes friends with Max-Ernest. Soon they find about the secret. They don't know what it is but they know it's there. They do not know who to trust as a mysterious group called the midnight moon comes into play. In this book there is action and humor. I would recommend this book to people 9 and up. I love the suspense and fantasy of this book. Donyou like suspense??

Book Review: Anton and Cecil

Anton and Cecil, Cats at Sea
By: Lisa and Valerie Martin
Book review By: Anette

Image result for anton and cecil cats at seaAnton and Cecil are brothers, different as night and day, but still very close. Anton is sleek, with gray fur, and not very adventurous, a planner. Cecil is beefy, with puffy black fur and a spot of white on his chest. He is very adventurous, and does not think ahead. But when Anton gets impressed, which is when cats are kidnapped and put onto ships as mousers, Cecil gets the news to late. Will Cecil ever see his brother again?

I like Anton the best, because he is timid, and likes to listen to the songs that are sung in the saloon, and is very handsome. All the sailors the brother cats meet on their journey are either nice, ok, or mean. Let's hope that most of the sailors they meet are in the ok to nice category. I really like their port town, it seems very nice, like something in the movies. Except I don't like when Anton gets impressed!! It's so sad! I hope you read this book!

Book Review: Evolution of Calpurnia Tate

Image result for evolution of calpurnia tateThe Evolution of Calpurnia Tate Book Review By: Emma

This book is really good and it is historical fiction, which is one of my favorite genres. It is written by Jacqueline Kelly. I think most everyone will love this book, because it is just so clever. It really seems like 100 years ago (A century) it was a different planet. It is about a girl named Calpurnia Tate (As the title suggests) who lives in a small Texas town called Fentress. Calpurnia lives in a very large family with 6 brothers, but no sisters :(, her parents and her grandpa all live in one house. Calpurnia’s grandfather is a scientist and a naturalist but everyone in her family (Parents included) is intimidated/scared of him until Calpurnia asks him a question and from there, their relationship unfolds. Calpurnia spends her days with her grandfather following animal tracks and observing plants.

She learns so many new things, from physics to how to tell plant species apart. Her grandfather turns out to be a wonderful person and a genius scientist. This book is funny and wonderful and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good read! The book takes a startling twist along with a huge discovery. I love historical fiction books do you?
