How They Croaked

Remember the day where 5B conjured up monsters in art class? Guess what we’re doing in literature? Reading about death, specifically “How they croaked” by Georgia Bragg. “THE AWFUL ENDS OF THE AWFULLY FAMOUS” Hmm…… 5B seems to have a hidden interest for the dark… Mrs.Barnes, a cheerful teacher, will go dark and mad by trying to controlling this frenzy for the book. If there was a museum in 5B, these 7 treasured copies would be in it (along with our monsters and a few autopsy parts.) This book includes: the death of Cleopatra, how George Washington croaked, and gruesome passing of Ludwig van Beethoven. Parents, want an excerpt? Here’s one: “Whether someone had a lung explode or was stabbed to death, died of poison or a sore throat, there’s always someone to blame, fingers to point. Looking back from where we sit now, people a long time ago sure did some dumb stuff-and it’s definitely the kind of stuff worth writing about.” I sure liked the part about lungs exploding!
This revolting, brain-twisting, book that makes you want to vomit shall never be forgotten. Those people who have no fear, take a hike. Happy endings people, you get read this book in another millennium.

First Snow
The First Snow of the Year

On Thursday December, 5 2013 there was going to be snow said KDSK, but all we got was these little ice ball things and I thought it was going to be a snow day but obviously that was wrong when I saw what it looked like outside.I think I'm speaking for ALL of Clayton when there was 1 no snow and 2 no snow DAY.
But then tomorrow there was A LOT of snow so I thought again obviously there was going to be a snow day so I did Not get ready for school at all.
At 6:00 am I went outside and went sledding down my driveway and on my lawn.
It was going really fast when I ran into the fence next to my driveway.It hurt but it was SO much fun.
This was a great non snow day.
we all are still sad but hopefully we will have one before the end of the year.

Algebra

Algebra is a most hard, easy and the funniest unit I have ever had. If you didn't know Algebra is a kind of math and like any other math like 2+2=4. But instead you use numbers like A+2=4. The letters are really just of saying "I don't what A is". So really letters are just numbers that you don't know what they are.
And here's a little secret. Next week we are having a test! Don't tell anyone. Well that's all we have for this month! Tune in for next month about the next math unit.
Question: Do you like Algebra?

Our New Colonies
Our New Colonies

After finishing up our explorer unit we moved into our next unit. Colonies. Then there was the problem of how should we be split up into our small colonies. So Mrs.Barnes had split us up into 4 to 5 people colonies. We will do tasks together and other things. WE have also been learning about other colonies. Such as Jamestown, Plymouth, Roanoke and many others. One of our tasks to do with our colony was to read some pages in our social studies text book and fill out information about what we had read.
We will be learning about the thirteen colonies soon. With our colony we will be travelling in the life of a colonist. Like always we will have homework, but we will earn points for how well we do on our homework. Those points will go towards food units for our colony. How well we do on our assignments will depend on how we turn out to be in a colony.

Math Fraction Fun

In math on the 26th of November, we had an awesome lesson. It was a little shorter than usual. It was 40 minutes, which is shorter because math is always 75 minutes for fifth grade. But it was full of fun. All we did was Thanksgiving activities. So first, we started with a difficult question. It was about a grandpa and grandma who had kids, then their kids had more kids and blah blah blah etc... etc... Now that was our first question. Then we did more questions involving fractions and finding common denominators. Then after, we played logic puzzles. My partners were Ildiko and Kaleb. It was one of those games where they give you clues about who likes what and who does not like what. It was a great experience. Math was actually really fun today. I know I'll have another time to do it, so it's super exciting. Also, the fact that it's full of fun and games is really cool. It makes me more productive and I can really have smile on my face and a great attitude when math is just like this.

Thanksgiving is an awesome holiday. It is a good day to really load up on food. It is also a great day to think about all the special things that you have, and how thankful you should be.
Do you guys like Thanksgiving? Well, if you think it's boring(I don't think it is boring but I just wanted to know), then I'll show you why it is awesome. So first, you get to eat a whole lot of food that tastes great. Just like turkey of course, and rice, stuffing, apple and pumpkin pie. It all sounds mouthwatering.
Another reason why Thanksgiving is awesome is because the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. It takes place on a big street. Many people line up on the sides while a huge long sleigh like thing rolls down the street. There are people performing their own songs, cheerleaders, bands. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is a parade to watch.
The final reason why Thanksgiving is awesome is that it is relaxing. What do you mean by that, you ask? Well, it is relaxing because a big part of Thanksgiving is the dinner. Now, what I did was play with my friends on the other side of the street. It was relaxing because I was just enjoying my time with friends and also enjoying that it was Thanksgiving. Also, after you eat your big feast, watch some TV or a movie. Have fun with your family, that is a big part of Thanksgiving. Now you all know why Thanksgiving is awesome. And if you don't, you don't have a life. Just kidding, but you should like it. Well anyways, I hope you guys have fun if you still think Thanksgivings boring next time. Thanks for reading.
