Hispanic Heritage Month

HHM by Ariana and Sofia
Hola amigos! Have you heard of Hispanic heritage month ( H.H.M) ? Well H.H.M is coming up! H.H.M starts September 15 and ends October 15! We are the student leaders of the school H.H.M celebration. We have a lot of ideas. The third graders are going to sing 'cantamos Americano's' for the school. We are going to get all the people at school with a Hispanic heritage together and make an awesome video about our Hispanic roots and every grade level is going to participate from the smallest Kindergartners to the5th grader leaders. Fliers will be out by Friday the 19th telling all Glenridge students all about H.H.M.
The point of H.H.M is to honor all the Hispanic people and to get all the Glenridge students to have fun through a language that is not fluently spoken in school. This isn't just an opportunity for Glenridge students and staff... parents you can help your child celebrate find out some fun facts and do your part! How can you celebrate H.H.M?

Spanish to English

En El Invierno
                         ( In The Winter )
                     By:Abigail

In spanish class we were given lots of words in spanish that describe winter or thing you can do or eat in winter. I chose just to write thing I do and do not like in a clever way. Others wrote a poem. What ever we did just had to be in spanish and about winter. Here is a little poem in spanish a the translation.

En el invierno me gusta hacer snowboarding
Me encanta nieve, nieve, nieve
Odio bufandas*

In the winter I like doing snowboarding
I love snow, snow, snow
I hate scarves*

*Scarves are just so ichie and make my hair so staticy.
I also can say much more in Spanish!
What can you say in spanish?
