100 Word Challenge: Sofia

"Sissy." Diana tries to grab me with he chubby fingers.
I chuckle, as Diana tries to get up. Diana tries to grab onto me. I lean down, and pick her up.
"Well have to wait until your mom comes."
I bounce a little, so Diana will not start crying. It's doesn't work, and Diana starts crying. Just then her mom comes barreling in.
"Oh Shilsha. What has this girl done to my Miha? Oh Shilsha."
It is all to much, and I black out. I wake up minutes later, and remember Diana's mom. What was she saying? Some of the words sounded like a foreign language. That was weird.

100 Word Challenge: Sofia

The men stumbled, the heavy suits holding them down. This, this beast could be toxic, and the General would not take any chances. The men circled the furry creature. How bizarre. The people of Hisparia had never seen anything like it. The odd yellow- black fur, was new, and the large wings were out of their world. The men's commander General Gourge circled the beast.
"Okay men. Spread out and pick this- this thing up."
The men fanned out, each holding part of the animal. At least they thought it was an animal. Then General Gourge led the men away.

100 Word Challenge: Sofia

"Jenny, go get me food!" My sister Annie was yelling.
"Get up you lazy pig, and get your-self a snack. You're going to become a fat slob."
Annie tried to smack me, but it was to late. I ran into the kitchen. Annie wouldn't get a snack, but I could. I walked over to the cupboard, and when I opened the cupboard door, the cupboard was empty. Well this is great, I thought. No food, and a evil sister ready to get me. What to do, what to do.
To hide from my sister, I went to the wardrobe. Inside was something amazing, something that was mine.

100 Word Challenge: Sofia

Jon guessed there were about sixty chickens in the room. Well not exactly sixty. One of them was not a chicken, it was an emu. Not exactly a emu. You see the emu was filed with gold. Of course now the emu was dead. The farmer killed it, a fool he was. Now it was Jon's turn. He would find the golden egg. He would be the hero.
Jon searched all day, and all night. The next morning Jon had not found the egg. He had run out of time. Many people tried to find the egg. I looked too, but I couldn't find the egg.

“Here is your test class, I hope you take your time. Make sure to double check your test.”
I sharpened my pencil, and took my seat. I knew I would ace this test. I felt it in my bones. Mrs.Mackery passed out the test. Problem One: What is the capital of China? Easy, wait Beijing. Next problem, what is a giddididlyooper? What, that isn’t a word. I looked through the test, and the questions were all gibberish. What kind of test is this. Then the bell rings.
“Okay class turn in your tests, times up.”
The bell rang. It was late, but I thought I had enough time.

Poetry: My Dog

My dog is better than your dog.
My dog is so fluffy, that the president comes just to pet him.
My dog is so playful, we charge 100 bucks an hour just to play.
My dog is so loud, the people in Alaska can hear him bark.
My dog is so sweet, some little kids asked if he was candy.
My dog is so funny, that he has his own stand-up show.
My dog is better than your dog.

100 Word Challenge: Sofia

The Tarantula, Part One

It was a regular Sunday morning, or so I thought. Mom was at her work, and dad was running errands. My little brother Will, was at a friend's. I decided to have some fun with Will's tarantula. I would put it through a series of tests, I called Spider Games.
So I took the spider(Spidy) out of his cage. I placed him on the floor. Then I went to make lunch. When I came back, Spidy was gone. I smacked my forehead, could I get more dumb? I pictures Spidy digging, pushing through the earth. I ran downstairs, and got a butterfly net.

"Just go in for a sec," Bre says.
I sigh.
    "But if I get caught..."
"You won't," Bre says slightly annoyed.
I sigh again, then head in. I hear Bre laugh, but its to late. The cave is sealed.
Knowing I can't get out, I walk on. There are drips, and strange noises. Then suddenly I see a bright light. Almost too bright. Oh gosh, I think. I'm dead.
"No you're not." A voice says.
    "What. Who sai-said that?"
No reply. I see strange shawdows. I start to run. Run, run, run.
"Ann!" Bre yells,"Are you going in the cave?"

    I groaned.

"Gurly you will not sass me."
    "But MOM!"
    "Enough."
I was quiet. Sometimes I hated mom. The car ride was silent. Then Abbie piped up.
    "Are we there yet?"
Silence.
"ARE. WE. THERE. YET?"
I burst.
    "SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!!!!"
Abbie started crying.
"MOOOOMM."
Mom sighed.
"Girls, girls. Be happy, this is time for family to get together."

100 Word Challenge: Sofia

The talent show was starting. The crowed cheered as the first act walked on. They were all dressed as pink gorillas. I laughed. When they were done we all clapped. The next act rode on in on grand bicycles. Then one of the kids fell of their bicycle. Everyone screamed. The bicycle rode off the stage, and ran over some kids.
I ran to stop the bicycle. I grabbed it and bent it in half. People erupted in applause. I bowed. The crowd starts chanting.
    "Sofia. Sofia. SOFIA!!!"
I smile.
"Sofia, Sofia, Sofia!!!"
"Sofia. SOFIA! Wake up. It's time to get up." mom says.

Art: Paper Snowflakes

Paper Snowflakes
By:Sofia

Today in art class we made paper snowflakes. We talked about types of folk art, and learned all about different cultures. It was really cool to learn about all different types of cultures, and the types of folk art. We learned that real snowflakes have six sides, not four, and not eight.

We folded the paper, then cut off part of the paper. Right before we cut our designs, we had a weird ice cream cone design. We cut out random designs, then opened our snowflakes. They were all BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Soon we will put them on our windows.

Have you ever made a snowflake?

Book Review: Surviving the Appliewhites

Surviving The Applewhites
By:Sofia

Recently we finished our social justice book groups. I was in Surviving The Applewhites. Surviving The Applewhites is a great book about a girl name E.D. Applewhite, and a boy named Jake Semple. E.D. is an Applewhite. The Applewhites are a very creative clan. E.D. feels she has no creative talent whatsoever. E.D. is very organized, and the Applewhites are not. She must learn how to survive her crazy, unorganized, creative family.
Jake Semple is a "bad" boy. He set his school on fire, got kicked out of every school in Rhode Island, and has a social worker! The Applewhite have been kind enough to let Jake live on their farm. Jake hates it, and plans to get out soon. But then some events including a dog, a little brother, a caterpillar, a play, and a butterfly change everything. Jake realises the good.
E.D. and Jake both have their problems, and troubles. But many things change their opinions. Surviving the Applewhites is no easy task, and E.D. and Jake are caught with just the same problem.

Will they survive the Applewhites Read to find out!

Leadership Tiles

      Leadership Tiles
      By: Abby and Sofia

On Wednesday September 4the the CLAYMO retreat took place. Overall, one of the best activities was the leadership tiles.  From blue to green to brown, leadership words were everywhere on the tiles. Each student was handed a tile with a color word on it. Then they got the marker or markers their tile said. With the marker or markers, the students wrote leadership words on their tiles.
When these tiles are put together they form a picture. The students were not told the picture. Students are anxious to know what the tiles form. The tiles will be put up in the library soon.
Leadership is a very important skill, and we hope that the younger students will follow the examples these tiles have.
