Writing: Flourish by Diniti

Flourish
                By Diniti

June 9, 2012

Dear Ivy,
I know that you’re disappointed about not getting your magic, but I hope that you’ll    feel better reading this.

I think my parents copied your birthday present, because they gave me a gold bracelet studded with fresh-cut emeralds. They told me that emeralds was the birthstone of May, and is a symbol of rebirth.

When I was blowing out my candles from my tenth birthday cake, I felt myself rising off the ground. In fact, in a few minutes I was whizzing around the room!

                        Wishing you
                      a good day,
                      Dove

The light letter shook gently in Ivy’s hand. Why did Dove have to rub it in? “ She probably meant to, too” Ivy realized. She took out a fresh piece of paper and started writing:

                                      June 10, 2012
Dear Dove,
Thanks for the letter, because I did feel much better, though I  think I still got my magic, for I have started having a connection with nature.
As for your bracelet, I’m sure your parents didn’t copy us entirely,  because  I know  diamonds and emeralds are not   the same thing.
                                     Hoping to see
you next week
           Ivy
Ivy smiled as a deep sensation of satisfaction settled in her.
Ivy’s Mom’s side of her family was a very unique. Every time a child turned 12, they would receive a special power. Ivy’s mom had gotten a the power of seeing with her eyes closed, a perfect mom gift. Ivy’s dad was from a normal family, so he didn’t get any real power, but Dad was nearly perfect, in every way Ivy could think of. He was wise and always right. But Dad was also imperfect, with his clumsy feet, and little silly mistakes that never did any harm.
Ivy had always worried that she wouldn’t get her power, having Dad’s blood in her. Now that her worst nightmare had come true, Ivy was living in a world of shame.

100 Word Challenge Diniti

Kids should not hunt for their allowances. After all, we already earned it. My mom hides stuff in places easy to find. Occasionally, there is one that's a bit of a challenge, but we always find every single dollar. Mom only fooled us twice before, and that was when my siblings and I were little. Mom is one of those people who laughs at every corny joke. So anyway I've searched the everywhere, and I haven't found any money. There's only one other place I can think of, the cupboard. I pushed aside boxes, and when I opened the cupboard door, the basement was flooded with light.

I hate how Homo Sapiens Think they are oh so superior and are aloud to kill an innocent animal, and get away with it. but us klʊərɨkɔːn, or to the hominids, Pygmies, can easily wipe them out, just as we
did with homo erectus, and homo habilis, and homo erectus, and antecessor….This bee was dying because some cruel person swatted her out of the
air. I shook his hand, a simple gesture we do in respect. Just you wait, Homo sapiens,
we can hunt every single one of you, until not a single human face will show
itself on earth.

100 Word Challenge: Diniti

In my house, Easter is extreme. We have an Easter egg hunt, Easter costumes, and to. Why? My dad is the Easter bunny. The eggs my father hides aren’t lucky finds.
Anyway, my dad holds this Easter hunt for the whole family and the person with the most gold eggs wins. The eggs are hard to find.
I ran inside the mansion. There was a 7 layer cake. It was a white cake with colorful patterns. On the top of the cake there was an Easter egg, all pink. I it and set it back, all gold. It exploded. I searched, but I couldn’t find the egg.

100 Word Challenge: Diniti

I typed fast and messy, words spelled wrong, and my punctuation horrible. My hands flew across the keyboard. At least I wasn’t handwriting it, or this work of un-art would be disheveled, chaotic, and sloppy.  Besides, my lower-cases would be larger than my capitols. I glanced up at the clock. Before, I had been scared that glancing up would waste a few precious seconds. I had five whole minutes. Five whole minutes! That gave me plenty of time. I slowed down. Last paragraph…… Last three words……………”Times up! Send your 100 word challenges in!” “But I thought I had enough time!” I cried. “Nope” Mrs. Barnes said.

100 Word Challenge: Diniti

I think I should be a night zookeeper because I care deeply about animals. The land of Nilth has no right to destroy the most wonderful land of Night. The Land of Nilth has no right destroy creativity. The land of Nilth has absolutely no right to destroy animals The land of Nilth has especially no right to destroy animals that are different, no right to destroy animals that are unique. You say that there are Time Traveling Elephants? I assume these animals are endangered because I have not heard of them before. So destroying these animals would be horrendous.

100 Word Challenge: Diniti

Cynthia stabbed the earth. She placed the seeds and covered them with dirt. Grandpa told her to plant them when she was sad. Grandpa died, and she had never cried harder. Cynthia had planted the seeds beneath the apple tree.
Cynthia woke up to the sound of rumbling. She sat up just in time to see a emerald stem growing, pushing through the earth. The leaves flourished, and a blue glowing flower bloomed. As it opened, a hologram to flicker from the middle. It was her Gramps, smiling at her, Then he, and the flower was gone. All that was left were seeds.

100 Word Challenge: Diniti

Chris missed mom. Dad was always in his laboratory, and never came
outside. Chris was eating dinner, when her dad burst in. "I did it!"
Dad said, pulling her outside. They ran toward the laboratory, and
Chris gasped when it came insight. It had crystal globe on tope, with
light from within. Every where the light shined, there were shadows.
Dad pushed Chris to the closest beam. "If an alive person disappears
in the light, a ghost will come back." Chris's eyes widened. "No! " "I
want your mom back too." Dad said, and Chris was enveloped in the
light.

This wasn't what Cassalyn wanted for her 13th birthday. A globe
whizzed by, followed by a fork. She saw the knife coming toward her
head.Cassalyn ducked; she didn't want to get killed by a utensil. She
heard the front door open. Mom came in, her eyes wide. She started
dialing a few numbers on the phone.

The door busted open, by people in heavy, white suits. All
of them ran out of the room. A week later, it happened again.

Meetings were held across the country to find an answer.
Poltergeists are teens that have emotions built into a vibration that
causes things to move. Cassalyn is one of them.

Famous Missourian: Henry Shaw

Henry Shaw - by Diniti

Maybe you have heard of me. Maybe you have not. But I know that I, Henry Shaw, should be in the Missouri Hall of Fame because I was the founder of the Missouri Botanical Gardens,  My garden is home to many endangered creatures, and I am extraordinarily generous to everyone I meet.
Have you heard of the tallness of the grasses, the perfume of the flowers, and the beauty of every plant bed in the Missouri Botanical Garden? Maybe you have even seen it. Well, I planned and plotted nearly all of it. Yes, from the bobbing Walla Walla’s to the green hedge mazes, that was my brain thinking hard. I am glad to say that my garden is a nature symbol and and a state garden to Missouri, regardless of all the other that exist. Every garden made makes a big difference in the environment, most of them small, but all the big ones start the size of an idea. Mine started as a thought growing when I gazed over the victorian landscapes. Oh, how beautiful they were!
Not only should I be in the Missouri Hall of Fame because I created the Missouri Botanical Garden, but also because my garden, my     darling garden, is home to many endangered plants. Every year, hundreds of plant species slip away from the living void, and others just hang on for dear life, such as the cycad, a plant that was around since the age of dinosaurs. If I had not made the Missouri Botanical Garden, some of the plants out there would not exist. It helps a great deal to the world if you can manage to save one or two. Even poisonous plants that everyone hates, their importance is worth a lot, for they are a part of the circle of life and the food chain.
Imagine the world if everyone was generouse. Sure, it would be boring, but the world would've been a whole lot better. So that's why I know I should be in the Missouri Hall of Fame is because I am extraordinarily generous to everyone. In fact, the Missouri Botanical Garden was a gift for the city! My offered words were inspiration for travelers and encouragement to my neighbors. They were open doors of achievement to those who persevered. I believe in every kind of home prosperity, for that is the richest kind that exists.
Now that I know you have heard the reasons of why I should be in the Missouri Hall of Fame, I am nearly at peace. Yes it was a tragedy when I died at age 40 in 1899, but all of my dreams have been pursued and settled with satisfaction. All except one. Just remember that I came back  just for you and your friends to hear this. If you're really  not convinced, just go visit the Missouri Botanical Garden. Then there is no possible way you can not vote for me.
I truly believe with all my heart that I belong to the Missouri Hall of Fame for all the reasons I have stated before.

100 Word Challenge: Diniti

Tammy screamed, or in her view, she sang. All the little plastic duckies bobbed in the waves - the waves of the bathtub. Cookie, her older sister would never, ever, ever let her take the plastic duckies outside of the bathrom. She collected so many, but she was worried of that tammy, the unmature three year old, would lose them. So tammy started her own collection of little plastic duckies. So far, she had two. tammy adored all the costimized duckies, espiesally the mad scientist one. After splashing some more, all the duckies had sunk. tammy dove in, but all she could see was water, no duckies.

Poetry: My Dog

My Dog
      By Diniti

My dog is just so super,
I can’t imagine what the world would be,
Without my little pooper,
Oh goodness what’s wrong with me,
Without my dog the world would be gone!
my dog is never a brat
Though maybe she isn’t a graceful swan,
she never chases pussy cats.
I don’t like it when she brings back my slipper all soggy
But I just can’t  live without my little doggy.
Once she did chase a squirrel,
Just only that once,
maybe there was a little quarrel,
but she never really did pounce
We always get tons of hugs,
from a ball of fur,
our playful pug,
My dog knows that I love her.

P.S.
I don’t have a dog.

Chocolate Milk Debate

December 9, 2013
Dear Miss Scott,
I think, no know that you should remove chocolate milk from everyday cafeteria use because chocolate milk  is unhealthy, it’s flavorless, and there are better things in this world.
How many times in your life have you heard the word “unhealthy” Well here it is again: Chocolate milk is unhealthy. While 18 grams of sugar per carton may seem small, it’s actually three thousand two hundred forty grams per an average schools year. Think about it now! Maybe you could make it a treat, like pizza once a week on friday.
When people say chocolate milk is to go coco loco over, is it really? I am a normal student in Glenridge, so I hear plenty of complains, trust me. Chocolate milk is flavorless, not in of sugar, bla bla bla. You don’t want to hear the whole list. If so many people don’t like it, why keep it in the cafeteria? It’s a huge waste of money, yearwise. All that money could help the school.
At the top of your head, which do you think would be healthier, Sunny D or Chocolate Milk? Which do you think students will like more? The answers to those questions are
Sunny D and Sunny D. When we compared Sunny D to Chocolate milk, Chocolate milk was 7 more grams of sugar. That’s one thousand two hundred sixty grams more in an average school year! Bring back bottled water, or replace chocolate milk with Sunny D.
I hope you will take what I said into consideration, and make a ban on chocolate milk for everyday cafeteria use.
Sincerely,
    Diniti

Poetry by Diniti

The Best Poem EVER By Diniti

I am writing about a poem,
That is just so very great,
A poem that I would never hate.
This poem is just such a delight,
The author should be in the spotlight.
I am writing about a poem,
it makes me laugh and roll,
she even used the word “rigmarole”
I am writing about a poem,
This poem, is the one you're reading
that’s so free,
And the author?
That of course is me.

How They Croaked

How They Croaked By Diniti Remember the day where 5B conjured up monsters in art class? Guess what we’re doing in literature? Reading about death, specifically “How they croaked” by Georgia Bragg. “THE AWFUL ENDS OF THE AWFULLY FAMOUS” Hmm…… 5B seems to have a hidden interest for the dark… Mrs.Barnes, a cheerful teacher, will go dark and mad by trying to controlling this frenzy for the book. If there was a museum in 5B, these 7 treasured copies would be in it (along with our monsters and a few autopsy parts.) This book includes: the death of Cleopatra, how George Washington croaked, and gruesome passing of Ludwig van Beethoven. Parents, want an excerpt? Here’s one: “Whether someone had a lung explode or was stabbed to death, died of poison or a sore throat, there’s always someone to blame, fingers to point. Looking back from where we sit now, people a long time ago sure did some dumb stuff-and it’s definitely the kind of stuff worth writing about.” I sure liked the part about lungs exploding! This revolting, brain-twisting, book that makes you want to vomit shall never be forgotten. Those people who have no fear, take a hike. Happy endings people, you get read this book in another millennium. Note: Archery is coming up in P.E.; who- I mean what do you think will be the target?

The Day The Parents Came In!

The Day The Parents Came in.
By Diniti

We Have been working on this project, so our parents won’t get mad. Preparing…  We came to school with blood red eyes from working so hard. Fearing…
Mrs. Barnes blames us for looking around and not concentrating, but we are only searching for hiding places. From the day my classmates and I found out that we will choose explorers, search about them, to set up so that TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND STRANGERS could see, it made me shiver. But when I was notified that we were getting GRADED, I dove under my blanket and stayed there for one whole hour. You see, everyone in 5th Grade had to choose an explorer, such as Marco Polo, and research everything they could about that explorer, and then find a way to show of their work. Some people did posters, Glogster, Prezi, etc.  We all knew it was going to happen one day, but there was no stopping it from happening.

Now that You know what happened, please do: A. Go cry behind the door and look back at what you did to your child, B. Immediately apologize and give them a present. C. Wince a dozen times. Or D. Remain the cold-hearted person you are.

P.S. Most children would approve of B.

The 5B Frankensteins

The 5B Frankenstein                           By:Emma and Diniti

5B has fashioned monsters! Really. In Art class, Mrs.Hayden has provided us everything we need. All of it from the earth. The most fearsome thing of all: Clay!

We made the monsters by making two "pinch pots". Pinch pots are little bowl like things made with clay. After we made them, we stuck them together with the score method. The score method is  you take a sharp tool then make little lines going two directions. Then we make little arms and legs but those are preparations. Before you put them on you carve out a mouth. You do this for two reasons, one you need a mouth for your monster and two, It would blow up in the kiln. Monster go boom! Then we attached the arms and legs. We carved out the eyes and we made the hair with a garlic press! After that we had to put them in the kiln to fire and harden. When they come out they are very fragile. We paint them them glaze them so they're shiny. We were working on shiny versus dull.

If you made a monster, what colors would you use?

Diniti's Fantasy Short Story

Phoenix: Elements

Chapter one: Celestia
I stuck my tongue out at her brother and smirked. “Celestia  chose last year” Eragon complained. “ Your sister has been acting very well this year”dad frowned at him. Eragon rolled his his eyes, but his cheeks turned red. “Let’s get this over with.”  Eragon tried to stick his tongue back at me, but Dad flashed him a look .“Revenge”  something somewhere in me bubbled. “I choose..............Aunty !” I smiled. Eragon dropped his jaw when he looked down at the maps.” But- but that’s a peacock farm! No way I’m going there!” Eragon sputtered. “You never learn my dear.” Celest said. Two years ago, you choose Lego City. I sulked silently. Now it’s my turn to drag you behind.” Celestia flicked her hair. Eragon huffed. “ Looks like we got a lot of packing to do?” Dad raised an eyebrow. “ We do” mom agreed.
                   Chapter two: Eragon
I stared out the car window. “Hey, sis, just out curiosity, why did you choose a peacock farm?” I asked Celestia. “Well dear brother, I knew you bloody hated peafowls farms, and especially Farms full of peafowl poop.” Celestia smirked. “Dad,you don’t like peacocks!” I wailed. “Well, “Another reason to choose this place for summer break; living with peacocks in you bloody Aunt  Margaret's house.” She told me under her breath. “In short, you’re leaving us in a peacock poop house  alone I asked, gripping the car seat. “ Aunt Margaret cleans the house everyday, and you won’t be alone, because she has a couple trainees  that are around your age”- “You’re telling me there are more 15 year olds in a clean peacock poop house, training to take care peacock poop, and they expect us to do the same with peacock poop?” I yelped. “Please don’t say “peacock poop” Eragon; it’s rather rude.” Mom sighed.
I gritted my teeth and glared at Celestia.

Chapter three: Celestia

“I guess this is the place” I said to Eragon.  “Like I need reminding” Eragon shivered.
We both stare at a huge red barn. There was a tall metal fence bordering a gigantic stretch of desert like land. And Standing right in front of the barn was Uncle Sam and Aunt Margaret with two teenagers at their side.
I rushed to hug Aunt Margaret and Uncle Sam. Mom always said that I was a adult charmer with my words and movements. Eragon hesitantly followed behind.
“Aunt Margaret! Uncle Sam! It’s so good to see you.” I said, then flashed my picture perfect smile at them, while smirking at Eragon. He settled for a handshake, though when he stuck out his hand at Aunt Margaret, she hugged him anyway. Little boys named Eragon never learned that they can’t avoid bear hugs from their Aunt Margaret.
Uncle Sam had withered white skin, long gray bushy hair on his head and his beard were tied in blue rubber band that were the same the same color as his deep sea eyes. In short, he was the secret twin of the headmaster in the Harry Potter books. Aunt Margaret had turquoise eyes. Her skin was pale white, and her hair was light brown with streaks of silver. If a person looked at me and Eragon compared to our Uncle and Aunt, they would never guess that we were related.  Eragon has caramel skin and short curls of black hair. His eyes are bluish silver, which doesn’t match the rest of him. His nose is rather like a sponge; if he " sharpens" his nose, it'll stay pointed, but really it's just a like anyone else's nose, somewhere between a fat splot on his face and a carrot. The only thing even a little good and not a total disaster is his voice. It has a little edge to it that sounds one and a half voices, so like the ocean, the salty bad-for-eyes ocean. But then again, everything else about him is a down-right failure, so yes, that's the best part. I have skin the color of bubbles on coffee, and yes, black hair like Eragon, except mine comes down in ringlets somewhere between my hip and my shoulder. He says it’s “curly” but that’s only an excuse for the the tangled mess on his dear head. In other words, brother dear and I are completely different from each other and our dear uncle and aunt.
The girl and boy hanging to the sides of the barn stared at us, and we stared back. The girl was like a bead bomb, pretty but probably dangerous. Smooth, sleek, straight black hair hang to her shoulders, not one out of place. Sharp nose and  Ice-cold eyes were feature that made that creepy girl seem really smart. Plus her skin glowed silver. Not glow as in glow, but it was just so pale that it seemed to turn all shimmery. I stared back at her.

Diniti's Halloween Story

A Dangerous Night,
A Dangerous Night!
By Diniti

I stare at the young girl across the street from me. She had a midnight black dress with red stripes and cuffs with long trail behind her. A crimson stone hung  on a dangling gold chain.
The girl flashed me a toothy grin. A sharp toothy grin with teeth as pointy as daggers. In one hand she carried a staff and in the the other was the most dangerous thing of all, a trick-or-treating bag. The candy stealing, smirking little pumpkin with a handle. I gave Regan a little wave and turned to knock the door next to me.
A plump old woman in a black and orange dress and a fall apple red pointy hat opened the door with a warm smile. She gave me a fist bump saying” Witches rock” and dropped a pumpkin shaped lollipop in my bucket..
I Trick-or-Treated around the neighborhood, with bright lights flashing in my face. Some people asked for tricks, and I happily answered each and everyone with a different riddle or joke. One man told me “MY what a unique basket you  un,n.   .jkiu, gaqp
.Mbčgi. have.” he said looking at my shiny gray bucket that I held. It was covered in stickers, buttons, bottle caps, fur, eyeballs, glitter, sticky hands, words, and bunch more stuff. “It’s silver to keep the vamps away, Don’t wanna be messing with those show-offs,” I told him.
I went around a few more houses and dropped dead in my car. When we arrived home I dumped the candy on the floor, and sat on the floor, “As soon as I’m finished with this bunch, my teeth will be wishing they could’ve just picked themselves up and run away!” I cackled. It had been a dangerous night. A dangerous night !!
