Colony Crazy!!!!!

In social studies we are doing colonists unit .It is very fun so far. What we have to do is:

-Find a colony type

-Make a colony name

-Make a colony flag

-And so on!

My group is called the golden owls! And my fellow colonists are Jean,Tudor and Sofi. Our colony group is a private company colony and our name is the GOLDEN OWLS!!!!!!Right now we are working on our flag. What we are doing is in the middle we have our owl and then we split the rest of the flag into four parts for our own drawings.

Have you ever been in a situation where its a boring,cold,December day and you have absolutely,positively, without a single remark of doubt,nothing to do!?!?Well,think no more!The solution is simple. Go to hidden valley!

Hidden valley is all about skiing. If you have experience or a newbie I can guarantee it will be fun. If you're new, you go through 7 easy stations to learn the basics.Then you just you can ski to the limit!

Our class went in Jan. and we went through stations and then went to ski at 2 options: the east chairlift(which brings you to a beginner hill)or the rope tow(keep in mind, if you go on the rope tow,bring good gripping gloves).

                     Would you go and ski over sitting at home watching boring TV?

OLW: Think!

 THINK!!!

In our writing unit we are doing something called OLW(one little word). You might think that means owl,but the concept is much more. What you do is you pick a word(were making something related to school) and explain the importance of the word.

The word that I chose was Think! I decided to do this word because you THINK when you do anything. and do doing something, anything, is better than doing nothing.like for example, you have to think when you do a math problem.

    At the end of 2014, 5th graders had (in my opinion) the best math unit.Algebra! We had many ways of learning/understanding algebra like hands on activities, algebra codes, you name it we did it.

    I personally thought that this was a easy/fun unit because this is not your average, daily problem. In fact, if you think about it, it not a problem at all! Like, say there are x apples. there are 6 more oranges than apples. How many apples and oranges are there in terms of x? You are really only making the number model instead of solving the problem.

In our S.S. unit part of our tasks was to make a explorer project! We got to pick a explorer and study on EVERY. SINGLE. CRUCIAL. DETAIL.

I picked Hernando De Soto. He was the first Spanish conquistador to make it to the mississippi river. He named it Rio Grande. Hernando made a big impact for Spain.

Dear people of the future of tomorrow,

note that this letter is very meaningful, SO PAY ATTENTION!

this life changing moment during the CLAYMO retreat that took place on August 28th 2014.  We were moved to the Clayton center from Tillis Park because of “the heat”. So after the fun recess was the letter from our parents. We all cherished the once in a lifetime opportunity. our parents knew as much as we  did about CLAYMO, but they did know more about understanding what's inspirational.
