    This family doesn’t like each other the kids hate the parents and the parents hate the kids so when the parents try to get rid of the kids the kids are trying to get rid of the parents.

I would rate this 4 ½ stars out of 5 stars. The reason I would rate this 4 1/2 stars out of 5 stars is because it has a really good ending and the glossary is funny. It is only about 140 pages.

Book Review: Crispin

As some of you may know, Avi is a great author.  I’d rate his books, in generally, 4.5 out of 5 stars.  I would rate Crispin 5 out of 5  stars, but it isn’t the best book I’ve read (The Silmarillion is, and I’ve made a blog post about it).  

The story takes place in England, in the Medieval times.  An orphan named Crispin’s mom just died, and he is now declared a wolfs head, which means anyone who sees him can kill him.  Can he survive?

Have you read any of Avi’s books?  If so, how many?  Would you read Crispin?

Social Studies: Revolutionary War

I am in the Parliament!!!

1st of all this is kind of like a simulation thing about the events leading up to the american revolution and the revolution itself we are doing in class so I didn’t really get into any government things. We picked our roles out of a box thing and I got a slip that said parliament member. There are only 1 of those in a box of about 25 roles so it was about a four percent that I would get that (theoretically).

So I get to sit in the back of the class with my royal assistant (Jimmy) and the tax collector (Aaron). We are the only people with the government, but we have more people on our side than those dirty patriots (They are not dirty just trying to get into character).

Now my question is Should I get a powder wig first? Or a neck tutu? Tough, right.

This book contains amazing qualities and has an intriguing plot. This book is written by the famous AVI. 
In this book a dainty little girl will cross the Atlantic Ocean all by herself. She is found in the midst of a murder mystery. Who can she trust?

Book Review: Maniac Magee

This book is very good and I recommend it if you like ever-changing stories with a good amount of action in them. This novel is by Jerry Spinelli and if you haven’t read one of his books I most humbly request for you to go find one and start reading immediately. Maniac Magee is actually just a kid named Jeffrey Magee. His parents are dead and he is homeless. He manages to survive on his own and is finally taken in by the family of Amanda Beale. He loves his life with their family but he is white and lives on the “black” end of town. He doesn’t realize the wave of hate piling up against until one day. An ordinary day and then BOOM it all hits him like a hurricane.

Then he runs away. He is a professional at running away. He is very fast which is how his nickname “Maniac Magee” got created. He is very athletic and throws perfectly catches perfectly and is basically a perfect athlete. Magee is fine with being homeless and doesn’t mind living in a buffalo pin for a while, in fact he enjoys the buffalo’s company. I love Jerry Spinelli’s writing don’t you?

Book Review: Time of the Fireflies

Time of the fireflies is a good mystery action book that I loved! Meet Larissa, a girl that lives in an antique shop, with her loving Father and Mother, and all the antiques in the shop. But one thing isn't normal. Her scar. She got it when she fell of the dock into the bayou. But now other things aren't right. Like the doll. And the fireflies. And the small voice in the disconnected telephone. None of this is normal. Her life isn't normal. But will Larissa be able to set things straight?

I like this book a whole lot. I feel that you should read it even if the first paragraph isn't very clear. My favorite character is the fireflies, who guide Larissa over the broken bridge and to her  ancestors old house. I really like. The plot of this story, who knew that a plot could have so many twists and turns!! I think it gets kinda creepy around the middle, but it's still a really good book and I recommend it!

Book Review: Wonder

Wonder

Wonder is an amazing book. I’m not sugar coating it, but just putting it simply. This book is by R.J. Palacio and you have probably heard of it because it was a Mark Twain award nominee.

This book is about Auggie (August) Pullman who was born with major birth defects which make his face look like it was melted. Well, the book isn’t entirely about August it switches perspectives with characters. Auggie has been home schooled his whole life, no not because of his face but because he has had to have a lot of surgeries and was a sickly little kid.

But then for the first time in his life his mom enrolls him in Beacher Prep a nearby private school. Auggie knows it will be tough but still he agrees.  But in reality its a lot worse than he thought it would be. There are the mean kids of course, but Auggie learns to like it and even makes some friends. The cool thing about this book is that it changes  which character is narrating the story, it doesn’t happen too often but just enough for some variety. My favorite part is the one narrated by Auggie’s older sister Via who is in high school. Auggie is in 5th grade which at his school is the 1st year of middle school.
