Dollar Words

Dollar Words by Manny

We are back on read aloud. We are reading Because of Mr.Terupt. There’s this thing that the class had to do. They had to do this project called Dollar Words. Each letter has a value. Like w’s value is 23, and c’s value is 3. So you think of a word and each letter in that word has to add up to a value of 100. It became very popular in class on Tuesday. Even I stopped reading early! It’s so fun. If you don’t like math, this makes math fun. With a little bit of literacy, also. We can get extra credit points for this. We have 5 teams of 5 or 6, and an example of extra credit points is that your team is the first to get ready for the next subject, or your team was being quiet throughout the day. I told my team the Strikers of the Night to do it, so we get extra credit points.
Dollar words are my new obsession. I’m going to do it a lot more at school and at home. Do you think it sounds fun? Well, I hope you do because for me, it IS fun! It makes math fun, like I said before. Are you going to do it?
