Biography: Lorde

Biography 11:Lorde by Manny

Ella Maria Yelich-OConnor was born on November 7th, 1996. She was born in New Zealand. Her mom is a poet, and Ella picked up on that gene. Anyways, she is still in high school. She is a huge star around the world. Let me show you why.
Ella got her stage name, Lorde, due to her curiosity with royal’s and aristocracy. Don’t ask me what that means because I don’t know either. Anyways, she tried to get herself known by joining Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr to get herself noticed a little more. But then, in November of 2012 in New Zealand, her EP called The Love Club was released. It peaked at number 2 in her home country and in Australia. It also peaked at number 23 in America and 22 in Canada. The Love Club was fairly popular. The songs on there were called Bravado, Royals, Biting Down, Million Dollar Bills and a song called The Love Club. Her style is different from other artists based on her lyrics. “Gold teeth, grey goose, trippin in the bathroom, blood stains, ballgowns, stretching the hotel room we don’t care.” I mean, who can think of that? She’s a writer, so it comes easily for her. Soon, she released the smash hit worldwide called Royals. The song started off slow in popularity, but now, the song is number one in too many countries to count. Also, Royals landed her two Grammys on January 26th. And she is 17!! When she went back to school, there was a banner that said,”Congratulations, Lorde!”
Lorde released other songs too you might’ve heard about. Like Tennis Court and Team. I like all of her songs. Lorde deserves to have the fame she has now. Do you listen to Lorde’s music?
