A Typical Fantasy:Part 2 by Manny
Since I agreed to work with this little squirrel, it’s been hard work. I was hungry and even more tired.
“What’s your name?” I asked. I decided to start a little conversation, since I was so tired.
“Happy. I got the name from my fellows back in the forest. They said I always was stuffing my cheeks with acorns with a smile on my face.” He chuckled after that. Not that I was not freaked out that he could talk, but I was just trying to be friendly. We were still heading through the snowy mountains. It was so cold, we needed a place to stay the night. Although it was bright outside, night was gonna come and a place is something we need to find soon.
“I’m so so so so so cold”, Happy stated the obvious. Even if he had fur on all over his body, he must’ve been freezing. Suddenly, I could see a light from ahead. It looked like someone was right near a fire.
“I see a fire. C’mon! Let’s go!” I ran my fastest while Happy scurried as fast as he could go. We got there in no time, and a man was there. We stared at him, for he was so big and looked at us mysteriously. I was frightened.
“Do you want to take a seat?” he asked us. I nodded. Happy hopped up on the log in front of the fire. The man just looked at the squirrel all confused.
“Who’s this little guy?” he asked us.
“His name is Happy.” I said. My voice was shaking. Talking to big guys that were intimidating was very scary, if you have not been in the situation. “He can talk.” I just blurted it out.
“Oh, really. That’s really cool. I’ve heard of those animals. You guys need some shelter. I’ve got a place where you can stay.” Me and Happy looked at each other. We had excitement in our eyes. Things were looking good so far.
